Jim Vincent will be conducting an Umpire Clinic on Saturday, August 31, from 10:00am to 3:00pm at the Northern Fauquier Community Park in Marshall.
The clinic is open to anyone with an interest in learning how to be an umpire, sharpening your skills if you’re already an umpire, or just curious about umping.
Jim will cover Uniforms, Equipment, Call Mechanics (Out! Safe! etc.), Field Mechanics, Plate Mechanics and review the rules for 60′ (Majors and below), 50’/70′ (Intermediate), and 90′ (Junior, Senior & Big League). We’ll also talk about the difference between Fall Ball and Spring Ball, as it relates to umping.
To make sure there are enough materials to hand out, please RSVP with Jim at District16UIC@gmail.com. Include your name, age, experience level and league affiliation. Information packages will only be available the day of the clinic to pre-registered attendees.
why is this way out in Marshall when almost everyone is located between Sterling and Purcellville?

A lot of the new umpires are in Fauquier County. By holding the clinic in northern Fauquier, it is fairly central for everyone.
