Weds. July 2 Baseball Continuation Games

Both Little League baseball games tonight at Freedom Park, Game 3 on Huber Field and Game 4 on Reavis Field, were suspended.

Game 3 will be resumed Thursday, July 3, at 5:00pm. Game 4 will be resumed Thursday, July 3, at 5:30pm. Games 5 and 6 will follow a half-hour after the continuation games finish.

Pitching

From the Green Book, page T-13, rule 4g.

In a game suspended by darkness, weather, or other causes and resumed the following calendar day, the pitcher of record at the time the game was halted may continue to the extent of his/her eligibility, provided he/she delivered 40 or less pitches, and subject to each of these conditions:
1. If the pitcher delivered 20 or less pitches before the game was suspended, that pitcher’s pitch count will begin at zero for the continuation portion of the game;
2. If the pitcher delivered between 21 and 40 pitches before the game was suspended, that pitcher’s pitch count will begin with the number of pitches delivered in that game;

Each manager has reviewed the number of pitches thrown by their pitcher of record and is aware of the pitching rules if they choose to return those pitchers to the mound. If they return to the mound tomorrow, Friday will be their first calendar day of rest. If they do not, Thursday will be their first calendar day of rest. Pitchers that pitched Wednesday but have been removed from the mound cannot return to the mound for the remainder of the game on Thursday.

Teams should take batting practice starting at 4:00pm or 4:30pm, and should limit themselves to no more than 25 minutes. The visitors should take no more than 10 minutes of infield as soon as they are done with batting. The home team should take no more than 10 minutes of infield as soon as the visitors are done. We will begin as soon as infield is done and umpires are ready.

We will not do pregame announcements, but will resume the game as soon as possible.

Games 5 and 6

Games 5 and 6 will each start 30 minutes after the continuation game before them ends, but no earlier than their originally scheduled time. Teams can take batting practice once the cages are free while the continuation games are being played, but they should limit themselves to no more than 25 minutes. They are allowed up to 10 minutes of fielding practice after the continuation games end.

Please watch the progress of the continuation games to determine the proper time to get your players and pitchers warmed up. The open area between Huber Field and the batting cages is the best location to loosen arms, or use the open areas at Simpson Middle School across the street.
