Congratulations to Upper Loudoun American for winning the 2013 10-11 Year-Old District 16 Championship. Upper Loudoun American defeated Dulles National 15-7, behind a balanced offensive attack, stellar defense, and solid pitching by starting pitcher David Gingras, who, after yielding a couple early runs, settled down to retire the last nine batters he faced. Upper Loudoun American scored six runs in the third inning and five runs in the sixth inning. The offense was led by the 3, 4, 5 hitters, Sam Reid, Gingras, and Ben Alter, who combined to go 8 for 12, with 8 runs, and 5 RBI. Team defense was key in holding down the Dulles attack, with diving catches by left fielder Kyle Caylor and short stop Justin Nelson helping keep the bases clear.
The 2013 10-11 tournament was hosted by Lower Loudoun Little League. Dulles National reached the championship game by defeating previously undefeated Central Loudoun American 7-3. Thanks to Lower Loudoun for a well run tournament and congratulations to both Upper Loudoun American and Dulles National for a well-played championship game.
Upper Loudoun American will represent District 16 at the Virginia State 10-11 Year-Old Baseball Tournament hosted by District 9 Little Leagues and West Springfield Little League. Games start on July 18.
