Congratulations to the Lower Loudoun Juniors team, who beat the Dulles Juniors team in a best 2-out-of-3 series.
On Wednesday, Lower Loudoun took the first game with an outstanding outing by pitcher Jason Leckemby, who threw a complete game, striking out 18 batters along the way. Dulles came back strong for game 2, though, behind the arm of Caleb Byre who went into the seventh. Nate Wooley finished the last three batters to secure the win for Dulles, tie the series, and force a game 3.
Dulles threw 4 pitchers to try to hold off the strong bats of Lower Loudoun. The game was tied through 4 innings, but Lower Loudoun broke it open in the 5th to win 14-4, with Tyler Dyer pitching a complete game.
Lower Loudoun will represent District 16 at the Virginia State Juniors Baseball Tournament in Washington County beginning on July 20.
